Demitasse has recorded two new songs in the most casual of fashions. Much like activities that resulted in Blue Medicine, the process is quick and unforced. Maybe, just maybe, these soft, feeble songs will be the seed for a new record.
Demitasse has made an evolutionary leap. Joe and Erik have been eating the same health food and rigorously training and the results show. They now sing as one voice. Last night they caused an audience member to levitate 3 inches above their chair for the entirety of Comfy Coffins. This magic is no accident but the result of focused practice and painstaking attention to detail. Demitasse performs Monday 10.27.14 at Strange Brew in Austin.
Read this article by Lorne Chan about Saturday’s show, as well as what exactly Deric Wynne is doing at 502 Bar to create the best sounding live room in the world — one that resonates like a magic kiss or musical honey dripping straight into your ear canal.
It begins, of course, on a Thursday: Buttercup at the Preservation Ball. Then Friday Demitasse goes to Dallas, deep in the heart or should we say the big hair, of Texas. Saturday Demitasse joins Salim Nourallah in San Antonio for a rare night of perfect songs. Monday it is a different story in Austin, with flawed songs and bad jokes, also with Salim Nourallah.
Demitasse is on the move this weekend with shows in Dallas (friday), San Antonio (saturday) and Austin (monday). Check out the shows page for more info.
Things have been very active for Demitasse this year. We released a debut album in April, had a string of shows including a tour of the Northeast and opening spots for Huey Lewis and the News and Blitzen Trapper. We have a new music video for “The Blues or Die”, and another in production for “Comfy Coffins”. We now have an instagram account, a twitter feed (@wearedemitasse), and this new website. And most excitingly, we have new songs and have already begun to sow the seeds of what may be a new recording. Come back to this website often to find out the latest news and learn where to find us and our music.
